Bathe & Prepare Dogs for Grooming

The essential first step into the industry, with a nationally recognised outcome. This accredited short course teaches you to prepare a dog for grooming properly: bathing, drying, ear cleaning, nail clipping, product selection for different skin and coat types, and safe handling throughout.

How it works

  • Practical component: 4 days of hands-on training at The Dog Grooming Store.
  • Theory component: online via Heiniger Academy, with up to 6 months to complete from enrolment.
  • Units of competency: ACMGRM201 Bath, dry and brush domestic dogs; ACMGRM403 Enhance companion animal coat and skin condition.
  • Assessment: online short-answer questions and role-play, plus practical video uploads and a Grooming Diary of before and after images.
  • On completion you receive a Statement of Attainment for these units, which can be used as credit transfer toward the ACM30122 Certificate III in Animal Care Services (Pet Grooming).

  • Using products to enhance the groom, matched to skin and coat type
  • Hygiene prep (ears and nails) and safe handling

The Dog Grooming Store is not a Registered Training Organisation. This course is delivered in conjunction with Heiniger Academy (RTO 40888), the issuing RTO responsible for AQF certification and for the Statement of Attainment you receive on completion.
